Emiru Assaulted at TwitchCon 2025, Claims Twitch Lied About Removing the Individual

  • Emiru says a male attendee at TwitchCon in San Diego crossed multiple barriers, grabbed her face and tried to kiss her without consent.
  • Twitch issued a statement claiming the person was “immediately removed from the venue and banned indefinitely from Twitch and in-person events.”
  • Emiru disputes that account, saying the attacker walked away, no TwitchCon staff asked if she was okay and her own security guard had been banned earlier.
  • Emiru’s “favorite security guard” was also banned from TwitchCon from a past incident.
  • The incident has reignited concerns about safety at creator meet-and-greet events and whether major platforms are protecting streamers enough.
  • Emiru says she will no longer attend TwitchCon events, citing lack of trust in the security provisions.

During a meet-and-greet at TwitchCon 2025 in San Diego, creator and streamer Emiru found herself the victim of an assault by a convention attendee. Video circulating online shows the man advancing toward her, grabbing her face, and leaning in for an unsolicited kiss attempt. Security intervened, but the details remain hotly contested.

Twitch was quick to issue a public response. The company confirmed that the individual had been removed from the venue and permanently banned from both the platform and future live events. The statement described the behaviour as “completely unacceptable and deeply upsetting,” and affirmed that event security and local law enforcement had responded.

However, Emiru’s version of events tells a different story. Posting on her X account, she states that the man “was allowed to walk away from my meet and greet” and that she “did not hear he was caught until hours after” the incident. She also says that none of the TwitchCon staff checked on her wellbeing. She further revealed that her own security guard had been banned from the event for earlier incidents, meaning she was left under less protection than usual. She also adds “thank God someone was filming, because otherwise I don’t think Twitch would have said anything”.

The contradiction between Twitch’s official account and the creator’s experience has resonated widely online. Many creators and fans are pointing to the incident as a sign that even high-profile personalities remain vulnerable at large gatherings, and that existing safety protocols may be insufficient.

Emiru has announced that she will not attend future TwitchCon events, and urged other creators to rethink their participation if they feel similarly unsafe. The broader conversation now focuses not just on what happened but on how such events can better protect presenters and guests alike.
