Food Panda Rider Caught Stealing Customer’s Package After Taking a Photo of It to Prove it was Delivered

A post shared widely on Reddit’s r/GigilAko depicts the frustration of a customer who waited nearly an hour for a delivery from foodpanda, only to discover that the rider took a provocative step. According to the post, the customer saw the rider take a photo of the food order, and then when no one was watching, the rider took back the food he had supposedly delivered. The building’s reception had been momentarily preoccupied, and the rider “sumalisi na,” a colloquial phrase meaning he stealthily snatched back the order. The customer expressed anger and disgust: “Sana sumakit tyan nya ng sobra pagtapos kainin ung hindi sakanya!” a harsh wish born out of frustration.

In the thread that followed, many respondents expressed outrage. One user highlighted the value of CCTV surveillance: “Buti nalang may CCTV! Sana ma-terminate from Food Panda si Kuya.”

Others vowed to only use cash‑on‑delivery (COD) moving forward, citing repeated negative experiences with delivery riders. Several lamented the erosion of trust: “Parang madami na talagang K*pal na rider ngayon.”

The post stirred a broader reflection among commenters about ethics and societal attitudes. Some questioned whether such dishonest behaviour is becoming normalized: “So is it actually our culture to steal?”

Others pointed out how systemic issues such as poverty, desperation, and lack of consequences might push individuals toward wrongdoing, but many readers were firm that regardless of circumstances, theft remains unacceptable.

This incident is not isolated. Other Reddit threads recount similar disappointments, with riders allegedly marking orders “delivered” despite never arriving, demanding tips or falsely claiming they have no change, or outright failing to hand over food.

The problem appears frequent enough that many users now prefer paying via COD or avoid using food delivery services entirely, especially if they live in buildings with reception areas or shared delivery drop zones.
