Razer Reveals Project AVA, a Holographic AI Desk Assistant Featuring Faker

January 8, 2026 Off By Kat

Razer is stepping deeper into the world of AI companions with the reveal of Project AVA, a holographic desk assistant that blends gaming culture, productivity tools, and virtual personalities including an avatar inspired by esports legend Faker.

Unveiled during the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Project AVA is a compact 3D hologram device that sits on a user’s desk, projecting a small animated figure inside a transparent case. Unlike traditional voice assistants confined to screens or speakers, AVA is designed to feel physically present, reacting to users through voice, visuals, and environmental awareness.

A Desk Assistant With a Gaming Twist

Razer positions Project AVA as more than a novelty. The AI companion is built to assist with everyday tasks such as scheduling, live translation, spreadsheet analysis, and real-time contextual help. By using vision and audio sensing, AVA can interpret what’s happening around the user, allowing for more responsive and situational interactions.

Powering the assistant is xAI’s Grok model, though Razer has hinted that support for other AI platforms may be added later on, signaling flexibility as AI ecosystems continue to evolve.

Customizable Hologram Avatars

One of Project AVA’s biggest draws is personalization. At launch, users will be able to choose from five different hologram avatars, each standing around 5.5 inches tall. Options include:

  • Ava, the default character
  • A stylized Razer logo avatar
  • Humanlike characters Kira and Zane
  • Faker, modeled after the League of Legends icon
  • Sao, a Japanese “salarywoman” character that previously went viral online

Razer notes that these designs are still in development and may change before the final release.

Availability and What’s Next

While pricing has not yet been announced, Razer confirmed that Project AVA is targeting a second half of 2026 release. Interested buyers can already reserve a unit online with a $20 deposit.

Project AVA reflects a growing trend in tech toward more personalized, character-driven AI experiences—especially ones that resonate with gamers and digital creators. With the option to summon a holographic Faker right on your desk, Razer is clearly aiming to blur the line between esports fandom, AI assistance, and everyday productivity.
