December 2, 2025 Off By Deb

A long-awaited return

After nearly a decade since the first season aired in 2017, Saga of Tanya the Evil is officially coming back. On November 28, 2025, the production committee released a teaser visual and a promotional video confirming that Season 2 will air in 2026.

The teaser visual is striking: it shows the main character—Tanya Degurechaff—playing a burning piano, a dramatic image that seems to foreshadow intense and perhaps darker events ahead.

What we know about Season 2’s production

  • The animation studio behind the series remains the same: Studio NUT will handle Season 2.
  • However, there is a key change: the new director for the season is Takayuki Yamamoto, replacing the previous director from Season 1.
  • Returning staff members include Kenta Ihara (series composition / script) and Yuji Hosogoe (character design & chief animation director).
  • The main cast is also confirmed to return: including voice actors such as Aoi Yūki as Tanya, and Saori Hayami as Viktoriya “Visha” Ivanovna Serebryakov.

What to expect from Season 2’s story

The story continues to adapt from the light novel series by Carlo Zen (author) with illustrations by Shinobu Shinotsuki.

Season 2 is expected to deepen the brutal, war-torn world the series is known for: magic, military conflict, internal moral struggle, and the cold, calculating psyche of Tanya — who remains a reincarnated ex-salaryman trapped in a ruthless child soldier’s body.

The burning piano in the visual and war-heavy tone of the teaser suggest that the upcoming season won’t shy away from darker themes — psychological conflict, existential struggle, and high-stakes warfare.
