Reddit user Alleges Converge Technicians or Contractors “Caught Red-Handed” Disconnecting Internet

A recent post on the subreddit r/GigilAko has sparked discussion about alleged misconduct by Converge technicians after a subscriber reported catching two men tampering with his line. The user said the incident happened during an online training session, when his internet suddenly disconnected without warning.

According to the post, the subscriber stepped outside to investigate and saw two workers coming down from a ladder attached to the utility pole near his home. When confronted, the men allegedly insisted that they had “accidentally” hit the line while working on another connection. The subscriber, however, said the disconnected wire was clearly his.

Inside the house, the router light had turned red, signaling a total loss of signal. After several tense moments, the workers re-attached the line, and the internet connection returned. The user claimed the timing and manner of the incident made the situation appear intentional rather than accidental.

The Reddit post quickly gained traction, with commenters expressing frustration and sharing similar experiences. Some users claimed that third-party installers occasionally disconnect existing lines when a fiber distribution box becomes full, a practice often referred to online as “slot snatching.” Others urged customers to be vigilant when new installations are happening nearby, especially when internet outages coincide with technician activity.

Other users say it’s contractors who did this.
