Entirely New Evangelion Series Written by Yoko Taro announced at 30th Anniversary Festival

On February 23, 2026, the final day of the EVANGELION:30+； 30th ANNIVERSARY OF EVANGELION festival, organizers delivered a major announcement that will excite fans around the world: a completely new Evangelion series is now in development.

This announcement marks the beginning of a fresh era for the franchise as it celebrates thirty years since its debut. A milestone highlighted throughout the Evangelion:30+ event with celebrations, live performances, fan gatherings, and a brand new short movie with Asuka Langley Soryu as the protagonist.

The currently revealed creative team for the project are as follow.

Series Composition & Script: Yoko Taro, acclaimed creator known for his work on narrative-driven video games such as Nier & Drakengard.

Directors: Kazuya Tsurumaki and Toko Yatabe, both veterans with deep ties to the Evangelion franchise and its storytelling legacy. Kazuya Tsurumaki is the protégé of series creator Hideaki Anno, and is most famous for having directed the 2025 series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Toko Yatabe has worked on many series, most notably SSSS.GRIDMAN and SSSS.DYNAZENON.

Music: Keiichi Okabe, most well known for his work on games series such as Tekken, Nier, and Drakengard as well as the anime Yuki Yuna is a Hero.

Production Studios: Studio Khara, the creators of the original Evangelion series as well as the Rebuild of Evangelion film series collaborates with CloverWorks, well known for their involvment in series such as Darling in the Franxx, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, and Spy × Family.

As Evangelion enters its fourth decade, this new series promises to expand the franchise’s legacy and invite both longtime followers and new audiences to experience the world of Evangelion in a bold new way.
