Genshin Impact Surpasses Fortnite as Most Searched Video Game on Pornhub in 2025
December 12, 2025In a surprising shift that shook both the gaming and online-content communities, Genshin Impact has officially overtaken Fortnite as the most-searched video game on Pornhub for 2025 ending Fortnite’s five-year streak at the top.
According to data shared by Pornhub, this marks the first time since 2020 that another title has managed to dethrone Epic Games’ global giant. And the new champion? HoYoverse’s anime-styled open-world fantasy, Genshin Impact.

With its massive character roster, striking art style, and a fanbase known for its creativity (and very active online presence), Genshin Impact has built a powerful cultural footprint far beyond gaming itself. Each update introduces new popular characters, fueling trends, fan discussions, and, evidently, search activity on adult platforms.
Its mix of memorable character designs and a strong emotional connection between players and the story likely contributed to this surge in online interest.

Fortnite, despite maintaining its dominance for half a decade, has finally slipped to second place. While still a titan in the gaming world, the shift reflects evolving online trends and the staying power of Genshin’s character-driven appeal.
This unexpected ranking change highlights how gaming communities influence internet behavior in ways that go beyond gameplay. Whether it’s memes, fan art, cosplay, or adult content searches, games today shape online culture at every level.
The gaming world saw major shifts in search trends this year, with several franchises climbing—and others sliding—across popularity charts. Super Mario made one of the biggest leaps, jumping 14 places, likely boosted by the excitement surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2 launch. Nier Automata also surged upward by 9 spots. In contrast, long-standing favorites like League of Legends, Apex Legends, and Fallout each fell by five positions.

Character searches experienced their own shake-up. Tifa from Final Fantasy rose two spots to become 2025’s most-searched gaming character, overtaking Street Fighter icon Chun-Li, who slipped to third. Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft held her steady second-place ranking from last year, while Overwatch’s D.Va remained fourth.
Some characters enjoyed notable boosts in visibility. Panam from Cyberpunk 2077 climbed an impressive 17 places, followed by Freya from God of War (+13) and Nero from Devil May Cry (+12). League of Legends’ Jinx and Fortnite’s Ruby also rose 11 spots each. On the other end, Mona from Genshin Impact dropped 15 places, Ashley from Resident Evil fell 14, and Overwatch’s Tracer declined by 9.
Search behavior outside gaming reflected broader pop-culture trends as well. Star Wars dominated movie and character interest, while Spider-Man climbed nine positions to secure second place—an increase partly linked to a spike in Halloween costume searches and a growing fascination with cosplay.
