Joey aka ‘The Anime Man’ Thinks Jujutsu Kaisen Is Mid

Long-time anime YouTuber The Anime Man, also known as Joey, has shared his candid thoughts on Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK), making it clear that he doesn’t consider it a masterpiece. In a street interview with a fan, the fan boldly declared, “Jujutsu Kaisen is trash,” and Joey celebrated the comment with a high five, exclaiming, “Finally someone who agrees!”

The fan elaborated, “There is nothing deep into it. Just random fighting. I don’t feel like it’s an actual story, right?” Joey agreed emphatically, repeating “Facts!” twice.

In a previous video, he had mentioned that JJK didn’t have as much manga fans, and is a series that relies heavily on how well MAPPA handled the animation. He said that for long time Shonen fans, it doesn’t do anything new, and it’s “just the Bleach of this generation”, with him adding, “you can quote me on that.” With Bleach now back, Joey suggested, there’s little reason to watch JJK.

A year prior, in the Trash Taste Podcast, he had stated he thought the series was “just okay” and “had every trope that we’ve already seen.” While he admitted he enjoyed watching it, he made it clear that he doesn’t think it lives up to the hype surrounding it.
