PewDiePie Creates “AI Council” With Him As Supreme Leader, And Destroys Members Who Underperform Which Leads His AI Council to Revolt

PewDiePie, the YouTuber with over 110 million subscribers, has once again pushed the limits of his technology setup. But this time, it’s not for gaming. In a recent video, he shared the journey of building a massive computer rig with 10 GPUs, initially used for protein-folding simulations, which help researchers study diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s. Fans were invited to join his team, making the effort collaborative and community-driven.

The main focus, however, was his AI experiments. Using the rig, PewDiePie created multiple AI instances, each running on a separate GPU with its own “personality.” These became his AI Council, tasked with answering prompts and voting democratically for the best responses. Underperforming members were automatically replaced, but the council didn’t always behave as expected, some instances were ineffective, and when PewDiePie started deleting a few of them, they betrayed him but colluding with each other to survive rather than come up with the best. Pewdiepie was surprised, and decided to adapt the system differently. He eventually created a “swarm” setup, running multiple smaller AI models in parallel on a single GPU for efficiency.

He tested AI models of various sizes, including extremely large ones with 120 to 245 billion parameters, pushing his rig to the limit. There was also limit testing for token capacities: up to 100,000 tokens, equivalent to a full book. Despite the complexity, PewDiePie found that smaller models were surprisingly effective for tasks like local search and information retrieval. Beyond technical achievements, he emphasized privacy and control, hosting all AI locally and avoiding cloud-based services, while also adding fun and practical features such as local memory, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and audio input/output.

Reflecting on the project, PewDiePie said he enjoys running and training AI more than using standard services. The AI Council experiment highlighted both the potential and unpredictability of multiple AI systems, while his adaptations, including the swarm setup, show creativity and technical ingenuity. For fans, the project provides a glimpse into PewDiePie’s curiosity-driven approach to technology and his willingness to explore complex systems beyond gaming and traditional content creation.
